Valley Futures Network
The Valley Futures Network is a grassroots, citizen effort focusing on a sustainable future for the Mad River Valley of central Vermont, our own home. The initial goal of the Valley Futures Network is to build enthusiasm and support across the Valley around a common vision of our future. This vision includes certain critical success factors that are necessary in order to achieve sustainability: food security and availability; energy conservation and independence; affordable housing for our workforce and young families; a strong, resilient business community; and preserving our land for conservation, wildlife and recreation. Initially launched and funded by Center or Whole Communities with community members, it is now independent of us. We support the ongoing efforts of this group by hosting and facilitating many of the ongoing planning and visioning sessions.
Valley Futures Overnight, July 10-11, 2009
A key objective of the Valley Futures Network is to foster better communication for citizens across the Valley, as well as between public and private efforts. One way we have done this is to organize leadership-building retreats facilitated by Center for Whole Communities at Knoll Farm. These overnight forums are an ideal place to explore, discuss and implement our valley's best ideas for a healthy and more sustainable future - one available for anyone and everyone to use. They are also lots of fun and a rare opportunity to spend quality time with neighbors, new and old, while being taken care of on the land at Knoll Farm. We hope that everyone in the Mad River Valley will feel welcome to participate.
For more information visit Valley Futures.Net. Please let us know if you can join this group by attending an overnight retreat at Knoll Farm on July 10-11, 2009 by completing this online survey.
