Knoll Farm's Renewable Energy Project

Renovations complete, on May 18th, 2009, our staff moved out of the farmhouse to our gorgeous, spacious, light and airy new office space in the small hay barn. Not only is the building rebuilt with local hemlock timbers and sugar maple floors, it is superinsulated with recycled cellulose and heated entirely with wood from our land.

Our electricity is supplied by an 8kW solar array and we save water by using composting toilets. Read about the genesis of this project in Peter's essay. And look soon for photos, construction details, and videos that will tell more of the story.

With a huge bow of gratitude to our entire community, here are some of the many people we want to thank for their contributions, support, talent and dedication.
