Icelandic Sheep

Lambing is almost over for 2011. We have 42 so far, about an even split between rams and ewes, and an incredible variety of colors and patterns this year. By May 8 we will have all our sale lists completed, so please check back soon. Most people set up a visit, or ask for pedigrees and photographs, then put together their choices and make a deposit. A 25% deposit will hold your choice of animals.

About our Flock

Our flock is currently at 25 breeding ewes and 6 rams, which means we have around 45 lambs each spring to sell for breedstock, keep for our own breeding program, or - if they are not up to snuff for breeding - raise for grass-fed meat. When you buy from us, we guarantee healthy, purebred animals with all vaccinations up to date. We will trim hooves and worm them before they come to your farm; a vet health certificate is available for an extra charge. We deliver for free anywhere within 50 miles and charge a small fee beyond that. For purchases of 4 or more animals we offer a 10% discount. When you buy from us, we also provide unlimited mentoring to you as a shepherd, drawing on a decade of experience with the Icelandic breed. We want our sheep to thrive with you! With questions about our flock, contact Helen Whybrow (802.496.5685)

Animals do sell quickly. To check pedigrees on our animals, you can go to our page at the Canadian Livestock Records.

Breeding Rams (not a complete list)

Barley KFM91U

Born 4/6/08.Gorgeous black badgerface triplet who we bred this fall. AI blood from Morro and Jager lines. He grew very fast and was one of our biggest rams, despite being a triplet, he has a lovely fleece and may be one of the sweetest, friendliest sheep we've every raised - though not as a result of any extra attention from us. He comes from Dutchess, one of our most important foundation ewes with lovely temperament and gorgeous black fleece, and Fritz (badger, twin, KFM 73T), who threw many triplets for us as well as moorit, spotted, and badger. Great parasite resistance. $600 SOLD

Timothy MVI 824U

Born 5/5/08. Handsome white ram twin with strong AI lines including 1/8 Hylur, 1/4 Bambi, and 1/8 Flotti. Sired many stocky lambs and triplets for us. He has a wonderfully silky fleece and calm temperment. Wide horns, classic face, carries gray, badgerface, moorit and spotting. $500 SOLD

Bingo KFM 168X

Gray triplet out of Coyote and Timothy. We were confused about his coloring at birth because his gray coat was underlayed with so much butterscotch, probably as a result of phaeomelanin. He's grown very well and is friendly and calm. Both his parents carry spotting and moorit and his triplets are badgerface, so lots of potential color out this this sweet ram. Born 3/25/10; Sire MVI 824U; Dam: KFM 49S; FOR SALE $600

Sir Issac KFM 195X

Pearly white single ram out of a black triplet badgerface mother and Timothy. Lovely temperament, very large and stocky, long straight body, and perfect horns are his clear traits. Could carry badger, gray, spotting and moorit. Born 4/8/10; Dam KFM 93U; Sire MVI 824U; FOR SALE $600

Frodo Frelsi AI Ram 704X

Lovely moorit ram lamb out of strong AI lines. He is 1/2 Smyrill, 1/4 Bambi and 1/8 Morro. His mother is a Frelsi Farm ewe with great lambing record. This ram's strengths are the quality, color and quantity of his fleece (very little guard hair), his sweet temperment and strong AI lines. His one flaw is his close set horns, which may or may not pass along to offspring. We'll see as we love him and chose to breed him this year. Born 4/10/10, Dam: Frelsi 310N, Sire: AI Smyrill ; $350 For Sale
